Benefits of Yoga

Flexibility and Strength:  The series of yoga poses called asanas, work by safely stretching muscles and increasing the range of motion in joints. This improves overall flexibility. Practicing yoga exercises will also improve your muscle tone providing strength and endurance benefits.

Posture:  With increased flexibility and strength comes better posture. With the practice of yoga, people become more aware of their body, knowing more quickly when they are slouching or slumping and consequently knowing when to adjust their posture.

Breathing:  Because of the deep breathing exercises that involve yoga, lung capacity often improves. Most forms of yoga emphasize deepening and lengthening of your breath.

Less Stress:  Even beginners tend to feel less stressed and more relaxed after their first class. With regular yoga practice, the deep meditation and breathing techniques help the mind become calmer.

Concentration&Mood:  Although not proved scientifically most yoga students say that concentration and the ability to focus mentally improves and also that their general mood after class is better, happier. Also, some studies show that yoga can improve learning and memory.

Medical Benefits:  Yoga has long been known to lower blood pressure and slow the heart rate. Yoga as been associated with decreased cholesterol and triglyceride levels, as well as a boost in the immune system function.
